Before you pick a time tracker, check that it connects to your accounting platform. Look for it on the platform’s app marketplace or ask the vendor how timesheets get into invoices or payroll. We haven’t yet checked each one’s Xero, MYOB and QuickBooks connections in enough detail to compare them.

Xero (from A$37/month incl GST) and MYOB (Lite from A$315/year) are compared in Xero vs MYOB for a new small business. We’ll add QuickBooks and Reckon pricing in a future update.

If you sell on Shopify, Amazon, eBay or Etsy, your payout is not your sales. Each deposit is net of fees, refunds, shipping and sometimes tax. A2X and Link My Books both turn those payouts into summarised, reconcilable journals in your accounting software, so the bank deposit matches a transaction in the ledger. Both are priced by monthly order volume, but they bundle sales channels differently.

    The short answer

    • One main sales channel at lower volume? Both start at around US$20–29 a month. Link My Books’ one-channel entry plan is cheaper on paper.
    • Several channels? Link My Books’ plans include more channels as you move up tiers (one, two, five or ten). A2X prices each channel separately or through its multi-channel plans, so compare the total for your actual channel mix.
    • On NetSuite? A2X supports NetSuite. Link My Books supports Xero and QuickBooks Online only.
    • On MYOB or Reckon? Neither tool lists MYOB or Reckon on its pricing page.

How to compare them for your store

    1. Work out your average monthly orders per channel over the past 12 months. Link My Books uses a rolling average, and A2X tiers are per channel.
    2. Price your exact channel mix on both calculators. A Shopify-only store and an Amazon + Shopify + eBay seller can get very different answers.
    3. Check history: how many months of past payouts you need to import if you’re cleaning up old books. Both vendors tie history length to plan tier.
    4. Ask your accountant which tool they already support. Some firms standardise on one, and the mapping and settings matter more than the brand.
    5. Use the free trial on a real month of payouts and check that the deposit in your bank feed matches the summary journal exactly.

    Our verdict

Neither tool is better for everyone. Link My Books is usually cheaper at entry level and bundles channels into tiers, which suits multi-channel sellers on Xero or QuickBooks. A2X covers NetSuite and PayPal and has per-channel plans that are easy to predict for a single-channel store. Run both trials on the same month of data, because the cost depends on your order volume and channel mix.
